Zimmerman charged with murder
Hearing set for Thursday
Special Prosecutor Angela Corey announced on Wednesday that George Zimmerman has been charged with second degree murder for shooting unarmed Trayvon Martin in Sanford Florida. Zimmerman’s new lawyers also confirmed that his client had come out of hiding to turn himself in. According to officials and Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, a hearing was expected on Thursday. According to Sheriff Donald F. Eslinger, the hearing will decide whether Zimmerman will be held in the general inmate population or not. According to police officials the suspect was transported on Wednesday to the Seminole County Criminal Justice Center in a black SUV.
Finding the full truth
Special Prosecutor Angela Corey while announcing the charges in Jacksonville said that her job was to find out the full truth about what happened on February 26th in Sanford. “It is the search for justice for Trayvon that has brought us to this moment,” Corey said while talking to reporters. “We did not come to this decision lightly.”
Simply wanted an arrest
Martin’s parents also gave their reactions to the announcement of Zimmerman being charged. “We simply wanted an arrest; we wanted nothing more, nothing less,” said Sybrina Fulton, Martin’s mother. “We just wanted an arrest, and we got it and I say thank you, thank you Lord, thank you Jesus.” Meanwhile his farther Tracy Martin said that: “we will continue to walk by faith, we will continue to hold hands on this journey. White, black, Hispanic, Latino…. We will march until the right thing is done.”
