Critically injured in a boating accident two weeks prior to death
The stepson of hip-hop artist Usher has died, two weeks after he was critically injured in a boating accident.
Willie A. Watkins funeral home in Atlanta confirmed Saturday it is handling funeral arrangements for 11-year-old Kile Glover. He was the son of Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster.
Kile was taken off of life support Saturday morning and died from heart failure according to a family friend, weeks after the 11-year-old was involved in a tragic Jet Ski accident. Kile was declared brain dead two days after the July 6 accident, and the family struggled with the decision to remove him from life support hoping for a turn in his condition.
“We know God’s in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word at this most difficult time,” the family said in a statement weeks ago. “We firmly believe in the power of prayer and ask that you all continue to pray and lift Kile up, as it’s the best way we can all support him now.”
The boy was run over July 6 by a personal watercraft on Lake Lanier, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. He had been hospitalized with a major brain injury. Lake Lanier is about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta.
Before the accident, Usher, whose full name is Usher Raymond, had been in a legal battle with his ex-wife arising from a custody fight over their two sons.
