Santorum going down fighting; wins Louisiana

Flexing southern muscle Santorum wins Louisiana

Many believe that it is only a matter of time before Mitt Romney wins the Republican primary race, but try telling that to Rick Santorum. The former Pennsylvania senator is not backing down despite the large gap between the two and if he does go down he will go down fighting. On Saturday he cruised to victory in Louisiana and sent Romney a message that he doesn’t have the back of the conservative. Santorum still trails by a large margin but he has by no means given up. Santorum managed 49% of the votes while Romney could only manage 26 percent. After the results Santorum said that the voters had made a statement that the race was far from over and that he was still fighting.

Focus turns to Wisconsin

Santorum knows he needs a massive momentum shift to have any realistic chance of overhauling Romney in the race to become the Republican candidate to face off against US President Barrack Obama in the general elections. Hence he had already shifted his focus towards Wisconsin even before the primary in Louisiana had finished. Santorum was already in Wisconsin when the results came out and he has a busy schedule ahead of him. He has a busy day of campaigning scheduled for himself on Sunday and will also make a TV appearance.

Latest Results according to the Associated Press tally
