Authorities in Rivers State, Nigeria have uncovered a real life ‘baby factory.’
The illicit trade, which also included child trafficking, profited from the sale of newborns. The operation involved a couple that would kidnap young girls, arrange for them to get pregnant and subsequently hold them in captivity until they delivered newborns that would then be sold in the black market.
Ben Ugwuegbulam, Chief State Public Relations Officer told adrempress.com that 3 young pregnant women were rescued in an operation that resulted in the arrest of John and Akwarama Chigozie who confessed to the gruesome crimes. He also stated that there is an ongoing investigation into the matter.
