Martin shooting gun problem not race problem: Cosby
Gun control needed
Famous US TV actor and comedian Bill Cosby said on Sunday that the Trayvon Martin shooting was not caused because of a racial problem but because of the gun problem the country is facing. “We need to get rid of it on the streets. And if people have one, they should be checked out so thoroughly,” said Cosby. “When a person has a gun, sometimes their mind clicks that this thing is – it will win arguments and straighten people out,” the 74-year-old said in an interview on CNN. “In the wrong hands, in the wrong mind, it’s death. It’s wounding people, people who don’t have money to buy a decent meal for themselves, yet, someone will put an illegal gun in their hand,” he added.
Cosby admits to once having owned a gun
Cosby also admitted to having owned a gun once time but said that eventually he decided to get rid of the firearm when he realised how devastating it could be. Cosby is familiar with what can happen if guns fall into the wrong hands, as his son was fatally shot around 15 years ago. Cosby also said that when he was given the gun a Police officer told him that he should realise that once he pulls the trigger, he won’t be able to call the bullet back.
